    Vancouver Regional Report

Last week, I attended the Vancouver Regional. I spent the past month practicing with Dragapult Dusknoir, a really strong archetype in the format. I ended up going 4-1-3, narrowly missing Day 2. However, I still ended up in the Top 256 (251st place)!

While the result was not quite what I wanted, I am still really proud of how well I did at the event. I was one win away from making it to the second day and I got a chance to battle some pro players!

I learned a lot of important things when preparing for and while attending the event. I plan to utilize them again in the next month when I head to Atlanta.

    1. Practice early, and practice often. I spent over a month practicing my Dragapult deck. I learned a lot of lines and felt confident when executing them.
    2. Coaching can be well worth the money. I spent some money on learning from the top players, and it helped me understand why certain cards in the deck are better than others. If you have the resources, It doesn’t hurt to get advice from people who have spent more time practicing your archetype and see things that you might not notice on your own.
    3. Rest is critical. It is tempting to play “one last game” before the event. In the end, it’s not helpful if you are tired and not thinking clearly during the actual tournament.

Thanks for reading! I hope to meet more amazing people in Atlanta.
